Our Pastor Greetings! My name is Kari van Wakeren, and I am the pastor at Faith Lutheran. I began serving here August 1, 2008. I grew up in Winona, MN and went to college at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. I graduated from UMD with a major in secondary social studies education and a minor in coaching. After college, I went to Luther Seminary to pursue ordained ministry.
It was through high school youth trips that I really started getting interested in growing in my relationship with God. Then in college, something "clicked" even more, making me decide to be a pastor. More than anything, as a pastor, I want to help people grow in relationship with Christ and to have an active, vibrant faith.
When I'm not at church, I enjoy being outside, walking, biking, kayaking, reading, and spending time with family and friends. I also love music, cooking, and traveling. My husband Thomas and I have been married four years and we have a 18 mo. old daughter, Esme. |
